OUR BOARD MEMBERS

     Delta Alexander

                  President, RN

As the founding organizers, the executive committee members fulfill the roles of managers and administrators for Georgia N.A.A.U.P. Inc. Our goals in the executive committee are to formulate the set of goals and specific objectives, set out time lines of campaigns, and deploy strategies in the interest of the organization.

Delta Alexander was born in Union Island, St. Vincent to parents Paul and Sylvia Wilson.  She attended Ashton Government School.

Acting as President of N.A.A.U.P., health practitioner, entrepreneur, and fundraiser, Mrs. Alexander has been an advocate for Union Island for over 15 years. With help from others like her, she has facilitated projects addressing some of Union Island's greatest needs.
 
Mrs. Alexander was most recently responsible for organizing the drop-ship of medical supplies and bedding to Celena Clouden hospital in Clifton. This is a relief project potentially affecting some 3,000 residents disproportionally affected by the need for better health services and medicine.  She has started a health clinic in Atlanta, GA that is free for homeless veteran returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. Mrs. Alexander's main goal as president is to call on all Unionites to be cultural and social advocates by giving aid back, emphasizing volunteerism and charitable aid.

 

Compassionately, Mrs. Alexander has been an RN and Charge Nurse for 35+ years in Canada and the US, and attended OSMH College of Nursing and later University of Western Ontario in London Ontario, Canada. As a leader, she served as supervisor for Integrated Health Services (IHS), a 120 bed facility housing respiratory patients. Furthermore, she was one of the founding organizers of Canada's own Union Island Cultural Association of Greater Toronto.  

Dr. Candace Pires

Secretary 

Dr. Pires was born in London, Ontario and raised in Toronto Canada.  She excelled through four amazing years in university at University of North Carolina- Charlotte with the initial aspiration to become a Medical Doctor.   Shortly after she discovered her calling which was to become a Dentist. She was privileged to be given the opportunity to attend dental school in Washington, DC at  Howard University College of Dentistry, where she spent four amazing years working hard to become the best dentist she could be. Dr. Pires enjoyed  life’s ups and downs and appreciated all of the opportunities she had been fortunate enough to experience. She enjoys coming to work every day knowing she will be bringing beautiful smiles out in the community.

        Wanda Holmes-Brooks

Activity Coordinator/Treasurer, BSW

Wanda Holmes is a woman of God appointed for such a time as this, known for her ability to speak in various capacities to diverse audiences .  She is very transparent  and believes in God as her main source of direction.She believes God has blessed her to speak a word in season to those in the wilderness and be all things to all people.

 

She is a graduate of Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, Louisiana.  She is Social Worker, Motivational Speaker and Entrepreneur. Wanda is also the Founder/ Owner of G & W Consulting and Management, LLC and G & W Ministries, Snellville, Georgia. Currently she owns a PCH in the Dekalb country area.  She enjoys going on medical mission trips overseas.

 

In addition to ministry, Wanda is a both a mother and grandmother. She also enjoys laughter and travel.  Wanda desire is to reach and teach God’s people. The scripture that she lives by, “Without Faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe he is a rewarded of those that diligently seek him.”  Hebrews 11:6

Alison Semper

Alison Semper a native born Trinidadian, mother of two young men and three grandchildren, is a graduate from Tranquility Secondary School.  She later went to Ciprani Labor College where she studied Industrial Relations.  Alison migrated to the United States and lived in Port Washington Long Island.  While there, she studied Sign Language and volunteered her time at the Helen Keller Institute which she truly enjoyed.  She later moved to Brooklyn New York and began working at New York Methodist Hospital as a Nurse Technician for two years.  It was there, she felt the desire to relocate to Georgia, and her thirst for education took her on the path to Georgia Perimeter College where she once again took up Sign Language which she studied for one year. She then transferred out to Georgia Piedmont Technical College where she completed her Associate’s degree in Para Legal in 2007 specializing in Immigration Law, Wills & Trust, which she sometimes practices in her spare time. After a 7 year drought of no books, she rekindled the flame and completed a second Associate degree in Science at Georgia Perimeter College in 2014. In 2016, Alison completed her Bachelor’s in Health Care Management at Clayton State University.  However, Alison still felt the excitement and the hunger of wanting to do more so, she enrolled at Walden University and completed her Master’s with Honors’ in Medical Social Work.  Alison loves giving her time to others and feels a sense of satisfaction when she can bring a smile to those who comes in her circle. Alison also enjoy showing empathy for the disenfranchised, the downtrodden and those who lacks a voice within their community.  She takes the impossible and makes it possible for others, she believes in allowing individuals to use the tools of self-determination and empowerment to elevate their current circumstances. Alison is proud to state that she is living her best life and is enjoying it.

Lesa Kelly

Activity/Fundraiser Coordinator

Lesa Kelly has spent 12 years as an Operation Manager leveraging her experience to create best-practice sanitation processes and programs that consistently produce a sparkling, sterile facility.  She obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Healthcare Administration.  She married in 1987 and has two lovely children Marcus and Renwick.  Her passions are cooking and taking care of people.  Mrs. Kelly's motivation and creativity garnered a way for participation in multiple successful fundraising events in the community.  

Nicole Alexander
Education//Activity Coordinator

Nicole Alexander, LCSW, is a dedicated social work professional and an officer committed to fundraising, relief, support, and counseling. With a Master's in Social Work from Howard University, she excels in community linkages, discharge planning, and mental health care. An author of the children's book *The Princess Warrior*, Nicole is passionate about helping kids and loves to travel. She is deeply involved in teaching and educating on safety, awareness, and mental health, providing comprehensive support and guidance to individuals and communities. Her extensive experience, compassionate approach, and commitment to advocacy make her a trusted resource and leader in her field.
